After aeration, it is perfectly okay to overseed. The lawn will get more oxygen and nutrients and be better prepared to grow healthy. In this case, the lawn will need to be watered consistently once the overseed process has been completed. The condition of your lawn will determine if overseeding is necessary or if it could wait for another year.

If you want a healthy lawn, aeration is the best way to go. This process combats excessive thatch and loosens up the soil in the lawn. This allows the oxygen to circulate through the roots. It all leads to healthier and better-looking grass. The process also improves water and fertilizer irrigation and drainage. Aeration will keep your lawn from turning into a pond in the middle of the rainy season.

Before your lawn begins to grow again is the premium time to aerate your lawn. All lawns are unique and the best time may differ from one to another. Many of the lawns in Toronto are cool weather grasses and should be aerated in the fall season. On the other hand, warm grasses are better aerated in the spring. You want to water the lawn long enough to ensure the new seed and sod are kept moist.
